THIS YEAR’S THEME IS STONEWALL@50
& U = U

The stage is set for the Mardi Gla – Glasgow’s 2019 Pride Festival .  The setting is the magnificant backdrop of Glasgow’s Merchant City – our gay village. Six streets are being devoted to six icons involved in Stonewall 50 and the U = U (Undetectable = Untransmitable) HIV information campaign).

Our wonderfully vibrant community has brought forward suggestions for figures that have used their influence, connected with the above themes, to attempt to make life better for all of us….

If you would like to suggest what else we put in the zones, and also icons that you feel we should also recognise at Glasgow Mardi Gla, please email us at info@mardigla.org

THOMAS ZONE
CANDLERIGGS

Health, well-being and sport are vital to each and everyone of us.

We will be dedicating a whole zone to this theme named after Gareth Thomas, the most famous rugby player to have come out……

Gareth suffered a physical homophobic attack recently in Cardiff,  outside a nightclub and reacted to it in a remarkable way, calling for education, tolerance and respect, rather than a custodial sentence.

During our consultations with the LGBT community,  people strongly requested Gareth to be the icon for Health, well-being and sport.
